The Mission of Special Olympics is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Welcome to the Team Area M website. We provide year round training and competition in 20 sports for the over 1,200 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, and Northern York Counties. There is no cost to parents, families, or athletes to participate. You can join us for events like the Area M Track and Field Games, Adult Games, Fall Classic in Hershey, swim invitationals, bocce events, golf outings, basketball tournaments - the activities go on all year!

Besides sports, athletes enjoy dances and social activities; athletes can become part of the Athlete Leadership Team. There are so many opportunities for our athletes to grow physically and socially!
